We also have good news that we have been welcomed back to Catalina Island for another year and we host the 2nd annual Catalina Gran Fondo. After passing the Conservancy’s stringent EIS (Environmental Impact Survey), we got the green light to host the event, thanks to all of you who did their part in keeping the island clean of litter and respecting the trails. A huge thanks to everyone for their support on this.
Registration is now open for the Catalina event, and we are offering an “Early Bird” entry fee for the 55 and 41 as well as the 14 miler for a set number of riders. Once those numbers are reached, the regular entry rates will go into effect. With the event selling out last year, we highly recommend pre registering early.

Dear Racers,
Racing in the summer months has its many challenges. Having a successful and enjoyable ride or race hinges on staying hydrated. However, searching for answers on this topic can be like diving into a murky sea mixed of theory and witchcraft.
I’ve been fortunate this season to hook up Carmichael Training Systems and renowned cycling coach Jim Lehman looking to push my performance to the next level. By simplifying some daunting subjects such as hydration and sticking to a game plan my speed and overall experience on the bike continues to improve week by week. Always approachable, Jim offered up some tips on hydration that read much like a manuscript, with no confusion, just science and common sense. It has been a revelation for me in the last few months; hopefully these tips can help you too.

Dear Racers,
Volume #3 of the US Cup Newsletter discusses how cyclist actions can be either the root of all evil or a healing hand in relationships with our highway counterparts. Please tune in and pass the message along.
With summer temps approaching many of us will be putting in more miles on the tarmac aiming for some airflow as we spin the pedals. It is timely that this month’s newsletter is a reflection on the L'Etape Gran Fondo for the Tour of California. However, this editorial is not about experiencing the electricity of sharing the starting line with 1500 fellow enthusiasts nor is about pedaling with legends such as Tinker Juarez, Dave Zabriskie or Tim Johnson....
