Bio-
At the ripe age of 31, I did my first bike race ever. The Cascade Chainbreaker in Bend, OR. It didn’t really stick. In 2004 I did the Trans Rockies with my husband, and our goal was to finish. We did and we are still married. In 2005 I got a wild hair and thought I should quit my job and race my bike (I think I was frustrated sitting at a desk, working as a school counselor, not being able to ever get the job done) That is exactly what I did. Sort of. One knee surgery later and another year delayed, I raced my first pro mountain bike season in 2007 at the age of 35. I had a respectable season and 2008 even better. I figure I will keep racing as long as I keep improving. I have found a bit more success with cyclocross racing, which has been a blast, although the extended seasons have affected my amount of time in the mountains in the snow. I could not do this without the support of my amazing (and also very fast) husband and the encouragement of friends and family. It has been an amazing ride.
