Off the bike activities: Yoga, pilates, trail running, writing a weekly column for www.mtbracenews.com called "Kathy Knows" and coaching the next generation of mtb and cyclocross athletes.
At the age of 22, Kathy started riding Cross Country mountain bikes for fun and 5 years later she decided to enter her first Beginner Cross Country mountain bike race. It was at that point that she became instantly hooked on the sport. In just a few short years she rose quickly through the classes and qualified to be a Professional Mountain Bike racer.
In 2004, after her first year of success as a Pro on the National MTB circuit she quit her full time job as a Human Resources Manager at Deer Valley Resort to give mountain biking and training her full and undivided attention. Since then she has raced all across the country and world to include World Cups in Scotland, Belgium and Germany.
Last season, despite breaking bones for the first time in her life (her thumb in May and her wrist/hand in July which required surgery for fourteen screws and two metal plates), she still enjoyed her best season to date in both MTB and cyclocross racing with several Top 5 finishes.
This year in addition to the Pro XCT schedule you will see Kathy participating in MTB and road race events around the country. She will also race full time on the cyclocross circuit again in the fall.
